When did you have to be dishonest?

People sometimes need to lie, when they are in a pinch or in trouble. In a case like that, they are upset and tend to judge wrongly. This is my experience.

When I was child, I was playing catch with my friend in the park. We were enjoying it. Suddenly he threw the ball in the wrong direction. I couldn’t catch it. It went over a fence and hit a window. We went to the scene where the window had broken. We were upset because the house was famous for being owned by a bad-tempered man. Fortunately, he was out. We talked about whether we should tell the truth or not. Certainly we should tell the truth, but we felt uneasy. When we gave ourselves up to him, we would be repeatedly scolded by him and our parents and would have to pay a lot of money and it was all ore faults. We couldn’t believe our bad luck. We decided to be liars. No one had seen the scene where we had broken the window. We ran away from there. I regretted not telling the truth. After the accident, I felt very sorry and I never went to the park again. I promised myself that I would never be dishonest again.

When people meet with a difficulty which they have a responsibility for, they often be dishonest to escape their punishment. This is one of the ways that they spend their life without unnecessary confrontation. Once they tell a lie, they have to make a story in order to hide the truth. They feel guilty, telling lies again and again. They regret that they have to tell lies and they can’t spend their life happily. So they should be honest and apologize for their failure immediately.
